Cebu: Day Two

I got really blown away by my neighbors. A group of kids who knew every single Green Day song from Dookie to American Idiot. They were loud and noisy, but I couldn't resist smiling at the irony that they had better diction at singing the songs than speaking tagalog; and that they knew every riff, every chord and they played really good guitar overall. Every kid knew how to play the guitar, mostly from 10 years old to 15. This is my kind of neighborhood.

When I asked them what they listened to bands other than Green Day, they couldn't answer. They said "Green Day lang eh." So I said, so dyou guys like Paramore, Kenotia, etc..

They said, "hindi no, emo yun eh."

And there's the 50-peso slab of sweetly grilled blue marlin

And of course, the one-way eskinita.
